The confluence of Marsh Creek and Willoughby's Run
June 30, 1863.
From Emmitsburg, Maryland, " It was a short six miles to the assigned camp, located along Marsh Creek, about 5 miles south of Gettysburg. The 149th arrived before noon in the meadows at the confluence of Marsh Creek and Willoughby's Run. The last day of June was a very important day for bookkeeping in the United States Army. The normal 60-day muster period fell due and also, it was the last day of the fiscal year. Company rolls, the monthly return and company records were completed for submission to the Adjutant General's office. Company officers and clerks used the afternoon in accounting for men and equipment while skirmishers were sent out to the west and north.  Orderlies were dispatched with reports from regiment to brigade and brigade to 3rd Division headquarters located at the Brown farm."
